Now this one surprised me, and at my age that doesn’t happen often. Seventy seconds – that’s over a minute of solid action from sixty-six shots, and I genuinely thought my watch had stopped. It hadn’t. It just kept going.

Coloured tails climb up steadily, breaking into golden chrysanthemum bursts with proper trailing petals – none of your thin, washed-out gold here – mixed through with dahlia clusters in shifting colours. Strobe accents pop in and out the whole way through, keeping your eye moving. The sheer length of this one is the real selling point. You don’t get bored. By shot forty I was still leaning forward in my chair, and believe me, that’s not something this old back does for just anything.
