Riakeo Pyro Addict 6 (RKD-24112) – Graham’s Honest Opinion

Right, settle in. Forty-odd years I spent up ladders, in fields, behind barns and occasionally hiding behind a Land Rover waiting for something to go off as expected, so when I tell you a firework’s good, I’ve earned the right to say so.

This one – the Pyro Addict 6 – opens with gold crown bursts. Proper ones, not the half-hearted gold you sometimes get where it’s more “beige” than “crown.” These open up into sky blue, green and violet comets streaking out across the sky, and just when you think it’s calming down it throws a load of crackling willow tails at you to finish. Thirty-five seconds, all in, from a single fuse, which in my day would’ve needed two of us and a stopwatch.

What you’re actually getting

• 42 shots, 30mm tubes – none of your flimsy 20mm nonsense
• 35 seconds of continuous action
• Gold crowns into sky blue, green and violet comets
• Crackling willow finish
• F3 category, 1.3G, 900g of powder – this one means business

I’d put this on for Bonfire Night, New Year, or any do where you want the neighbours to come out and have a look over the fence. It’s not subtle. It’s not meant to be.
